'Billog' is a colloquial term only known to Teessiders. This project is a password to the past, and explores the impermanence of memory, by taking reclaimed local source material of phenotypes, psychogeography, and a synesthesia-based representation of the odours that poured out of ever-present chemical plants of the seventies and eighties.
The artist, by iterating the material through three stages of machine learning, using the single text string of 'Billingham' to scrape away the veneers like a faulty photocopy of a faulty photocopy until all that remains is a final figurative sense of a time and place.
